Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about a bug that happened to our team in a client a few days ago. It happened when creating a database in RAC in version 188.8.131.52 using grid infrastructure 19c. the creation was to be done with the graphical database configuration assistant (dbca) tool
How to create a database in RAC with DBCA?
The dbca is the graphical database creation tool offered by Oracle. Once the application is lifted, there are several options to work with it, such as creating databases, managing templates, etc.
Database creation failed
In the tool we choose “Create Database”, and we continue with the creation process as it is normally done, and when we reach the screen to assign name to the instance and the nodes where the Cluster is going to be configured.
When trying to move to the following configuration screens of the different options of the database and the instance, that is when we find the error.
We looked for the error and found an Oracle support note (Doc ID 1915945.1) stating that there is a bug in the software, entitled:
This error is addressed by using a database in version from 12.1.
In our case, we did the creation of the database manually using CREATE DATABASE, and executing the necessary tasks that when we use the graphic tools we take for granted, but it is important to know in case one day they are necessary.
These tasks of manual creation of a database in RAC we will see in another post soon.
We hope you were interested.
